THE IMPACT OF AN EARTHQUAKE ON CULTURAL HERITAGE

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption was the main church of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.

On 12 January 2010 an earthquake struck the city causing the destruction of endless buildings including the collapsed of the roof and the towers flanking the main entrance of the cathedral. Only the lower parts of the walls remained standing.

The freely and on-purchase available scientific publication proposed below provide detail on the history, mechanisms and effects of this disaster.
